How Students Can Get 50% Off the Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) Exam (2026 Guide)

Thinking about getting into cloud computing? Now is a great time to start. Through the GitHub Student Developer Pack, eligible students can get 50% off the official Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) exam via DataCamp. Here's what the offer includes and how to claim it.

What is AZ-900?

AZ-900 is Microsoft's entry-level cloud certification. It checks that you understand:

  • Core cloud concepts (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and public, private and hybrid cloud)
  • Azure architecture and services: compute, networking and storage
  • Security, governance and identity tools
  • Pricing, cost management and SLAs

You don't need any coding or prior cloud experience, so it's a good first certification for students from any background.

How to Get the 50% Discount

Step 1: Get the GitHub Student Developer Pack. Apply at education.github.com/pack using your student details.

Step 2: Claim DataCamp Premium. Create a free DataCamp account and claim the offer from the Student Pack. This gives you 3 months of DataCamp Premium for free.

Step 3: Complete the Azure Fundamentals skill track. It's 4 courses, about 8 hours in total. The track was built with Microsoft and follows the official exam content. It covers virtual machines, containers, role-based access control, pricing calculators and more, with hands-on practice in Azure.

Step 4: Receive your discount code. After you finish the track, DataCamp emails you a 50% off voucher for the Microsoft exam.

Good to Know Before You Start

  • The code can take up to 3 days to arrive. Microsoft releases codes in batches. If yours hasn't arrived after 3 days, contact DataCamp Support.
  • The code expires. You'll have 3 to 6 months to use it, so check the date in the email.
  • Finishing the track doesn't earn you the certification. You still need to book and pass the Microsoft exam.
  • Only the exam fee is discounted. The code doesn't reduce what you pay for DataCamp.
  • Keep your Premium subscription active. The discount is only available to Premium subscribers.

Study Tips for AZ-900

  • Use the free Microsoft Learn modules and the practice assessment on the certification page linked above.
  • Learn the shared responsibility model and the differences between cloud service types well.
  • Create a free Azure account and try deploying a VM or a storage account yourself.
  • Take practice tests until you score above 80% consistently.

Final Thoughts

AZ-900 is one of the easiest ways to start a career in cloud, DevOps or data. With an 8-hour track, a free subscription and a 50% exam discount, it costs students very little to get started.

If you're a student, take advantage of this offer, and share it with friends who could use it.
